A process for smoothing and possibly shaping textile products by applying mechanical pressure with heat, either dry or in the presence of moisture. যান্ত্রিক উপায়ে উচ্চ তাপ ও চাপের মাধ্যমে আর্দ্রতার উপস্থিতিতে অথবা অনুপস্থিতিতে পোশাককে নির্দিষ্ট আকৃতি দিয়ে মসৃন করার প্রক্রিয়াকে হট প্রেসিং বলা হয়।

A pressing machine capable of generating high temperatures and pressures. Used for pressing and processing permanent-press fabrics. কঠিন পদার্থ যা তাপে গলে যায় ও আঠা জাতীয় বস্তুর মত কাজ করে কিন্তু ঠান্ডা হয়ে যন্ত্রকে শত্রু বন্ধনের সৃষ্টি করে তাকে হট মেল্ট এডসিড বলা হয়।

Generally, the reduction in the dimensions of a fabric, yarn, or fiber induced by exposure to dry heat. Specifically, a fundamental property of fibers. সাধারনভাবে শুষ্ক তাপ দিয়ে কাপড় বা সুতাকে বা তন্তুর আকৃতিকে সংকুচিত করার প্রক্রিয়াকে হট এয়ার ফ্রিঙ্কেজ বলে।
Hopsacking
A modification of plain weave in which two or more ends and picks weave as one. A coarse, open, basket-weave fabric that gets its name from the plain-weave fabric of jute or hemp used for sacking in which hops are gathered. একধরনের কাপড়ের টানা ও পড়েন সুতা গুলো বান্ডেল আকারে পরস্পর বিজড়িত থাকে ফলে বুনন পুরো ও ঢিলা হয় । ইহা সমতল বুননে তৈরী।
Hook reed
হোক রিড কটন সুতাকে মাড় দেবার সময় ব্যবহৃত একধরনের রিড যার প্রত্যেকটিতে হুক থাকে। এই হুকগুলো রিড একই দিকে আটকানো থাকে এবং এগুলো একই ওজনের হয়ে থাকে।
Humidity
বাতাসে যে পরিমাণ জলীয় বাষ্প থাকে তাকেই আর্দ্রতা বা হিউমিডিটি বলে।
Hue
যখন কোন বর্ণকে অন্যকোন বর্ণের অল্প পরিমানের সাথে মিশানো হয় তখন সৃষ্ট বর্ণকে প্রথম বর্ণের হিউ বলে। এই সংজ্ঞানুযায়ী খাটি লাল বর্ণের সাথে অল্প পরিমান কমলা মিশিয়ে আমরা লালের কমলা হিউ বর্ণ সৃষ্টি করতে পারি।

Hunka
শুকনা মূল এবং শক্ত বাকল মুক্ত না করলে এ রকম ত্রুটিপূর্ন আঁশ হয়। ত্রুটিপূর্ণ অংশ অবশ্যই কেটে নিতে হবে এবং নিম্নমানের সুতার জন্য ব্যবহার করা যায়।
Hydroxtractor
After dyeing and before drying by using centrifugal force excess water is removed in hydro extractor or centrifuge. It is a batch process which works on centrifuge principle. After hydro extraction the water content of fabric is reduced to 50 to 60 percent.

In aerospace textiles, a yarn having more than one component. দুই বা ততোধিক তন্তুর সমন্বয়ে গঠিত সুতা যা অধিক শক্তিশালী। ইহা বিমান ও নভোযান উড্ডয়নের সাথে জড়িত বস্ত্র তৈরীতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Hybrid fabric
Fabric for composite manufacture in which two or more different yarns are used in the fabric construction. This provides design flexibility to meet performance requirements and controls cost by permitting some lower priced fibers to be used. দুই বা ততোধিক সুতা দিয়ে তৈরী কাপড় যা প্রধানত নকশার বৈচিত্র্যতার উপযোগিতা মূল্যের গ্রহনযোগ্যতা ইত্যাদি সুবিধা বিবেচনা করে তৈরী করা হয়। এদের শংকর বস্তু বলা হয়।

(হিস্টেরেসিস) In tensile testing, loss of linear recovery following repeated loading and relaxation. কোন বস্তুর প্রসারন যোগ্য শক্তি নির্নয়ে বারবার বস্তুর উপর ভর প্রয়োগে প্রলম্বিত করে আবার শিথিল অবস্থায় ফেরত নেয়া এবং এই প্রক্রিয়ায় পুনঃআবৃত্তি করতে থাকলে বস্তুর পূর্বের অবস্থায় ফিরে যাওয়ার ক্ষমতা হারায় একে হিস্টারেসিস বলে। Hygroscopic (হাইগ্ৰস্কপিক) কিছু রাসায়নিক পদার্থের পানি ধরে রাখার ক্ষমতাকে হাইগ্রাক্সোপিসিটি বলে।
